Object: NGC7814; Distance: 40MLY; Magnitude: 11.6; Date: November 2017; Place: Fort Davis, TX; Details: :LRGB:430:150:180:240, unbinned; Processing: MaxIm DL, CCDStack, Regim, Photoshop CS3; Optics: 12.5"RCOS Truss; Focal Length: 2808mm@f9; Mount: Paramount ME Robotic; Camera: SBIG STL6303E; Focus: RCOS and Focus Max; Guiding: SBIG RGH Off-Axis; Filters: Tru-Balance LRGB Gen II 2" NGC7814 is an edge-on spiral galaxy toward the Constellation Pegasus at an approximate distance of 40 Million Light-Years. It very much resembles the famous Sombrero Galaxy J(M104), and is sometimes referred to as the "Little Sombrero", but appears smaller only because it resides at a greater distance. Both galaxies are approximately 60,000 Light-Years across. The extensive central bulge is cut by a dark lane of dust hiding our view of the galaxy core. As M104, it has an extensive halo, in which many globular clusters can be seen. A dim dwarf galaxy, potentially a satellite galaxy, can be faintly seen below the galaxy.
